APPLICATION OF IACS TO BFG PERSONNEL Due to changes in the US IACS system in 2008, British Forces Germany personnel were no longer permitted to have IACS cards for “Europe Wide” access to US Facilities and new cards were annotated “Germany Only”. Despite this change to the regulations, some personnel were able to obtain cards with the “Europe Wide” access but most of these are now nearing expiry and if replaced, will be restricted to “Germany Only”. This restriction has been put into force by the US authorities due to their various agreements (Status of Forces Agreements – SOFAs) with European countries, which do not cover British Forces. This has caused some problems where BFG personnel have wished to use facilities, such as Camp Darby R&R centre at Livorno, Italy. It should be noted that British personnel who have already booked accommodation at Sea Pines, Camp Darby will be allowed access until 30 Sep 2010 on their UK ID Cards. The Sea Pines Centre will not take any new bookings from British personnel and access will be denied after that date unless you have “Europe Wide” access on your IACS card. This restriction applies to all US Facilities outside Germany.
