Ramstein Air Base is situated in Rheinland-Pfalz state of Germany . It is approximately 7 miles away from away from Kaiserslautern Town . Ramstein Air Base is a large busy base home to over 60.000 personnel .

Located in the Palatinate Forest one of the most beautiful areas of Germany , it is home to, amongst others, Headquarters United States Air Force in Europe , 435 th Airbase Wing and a NATO Headquarters. Ramstein is a truly exceptional international base – designed by French engineers in 1951, built by German companies, with construction completed in 1953,and currently operated by the United States Air Force.
The nearest large town to Ramstein Air Base is Kaiserslautern , around which are several other USAFE Bases and USAREUR (Army) posts. Ramstein is approximately 200 miles (4 hours drive) from the Joint Headquarters (JHQ) at Rheindahlen, some 90 miles from Frankfurt and 40 miles from the French border at Saarbrucken.
UKJSU Ramstein is on a large busy base but there is only 200 UK Forces stationed here. We have a Primary school St David's There ia no local Secondary School the children who are here board at Windsor School at JHQ. The station has lots of amenities including, 2 cinemas, Beauty & Hair salons, Bowling Ally and several shops selling goods from sports kit, art & crafts, telephones to furniture.
