Bad Fallingbostel and the surrounding villages are over a thousand years old. In fact, Bad Fallingbostel itself celebrated its 1000th anniversary in 1993. It also has Lieth Forest, a large beech forest which slopes towards the river Boehme, where you can go canoeing. There are two swimming pools. One is an indoor pool and open all year round. The other one is an outdoor pool for the summer months.
As well as a wide range of leisure facilities, Bad Fallingbostel has special attractions. In the town, close to the entrance to Lieth Forest, is "Hof der Heidmark" a timber-framed house from 1642, and a collection of old agricultural buildings, placed there as a memorial to the farms that had to be evacuated for the construction of the military training area of Bergen during the 1930s.
There are many theme parks in the Heide region. The HIVE holds information on opening times and route maps to most of these, so please come in and ask.
Garrison Information
Fallingbostel Station is part of Hohne Garrison which is made up of three camps: Fallingbostel, Hohne and Celle. The Station is currently home to the Scots Dragoon Guards, 3 Mercians, 4 Scots, 16 Tank Transporter Squadron, 2 (CS) Battalion REME and 50 OPR.
There is one crèche in Fallingbostel and two Foundation Stage settings, Scotts FS1 and Heide FS1. Two Primary Schools are located in St Barbara Barracks: Heide School and Shackleton School. Gloucester School, located nearby in Hohne, is the local Secondary School.
