The Brit Wives Welcome and Coffee Groups
There are three of these, organised geographically into the Zaventem/Sterrebeek Group, the Tervuren Group and the Overijse/Hoeilaart Group. The coordinator welcomes new arrivals and organises a monthly get-together.
NATO International Wives Club
They produce a monthly Newsletter called ‘Yellow Pages Jaunes’(available via email from infonic-subscribe@yahoogroups.com ) with details of all their activities which include coffee mornings, art and craft activities, English/French/Dutch conversation groups, cookery lessons, walking groups, cinema visits and excursions/trips. IMS Wives Group
A social club organised by the wives of members of the International Military Staff at NATO, but open to everyone. They hold a monthly coffee morning held in Stockel at Le Pain Quotidien coffee shop and organise monthly excursions, often of a cultural nature. In September they hold a Welcome Coffee Morning at the Club Prince Albert, the Belgian Officers Club in central Brussels, where they provide a goodie bag full of useful information for new arrivals. The British and Commonwealth Women’s Club of Brussels
This is a civilian club open to all commonwealth expat women living in Brussels. There is an annual fee of 70 Euros which provides access to a clubhouse near Stockel and a wide range of activities such as golf, bowling, crafts, cookery and languages. Welcome to Belgium
This group organise trips and visits to sometimes quite inaccessible places – private homes, gardens and collections. They also organise French conversation groups and run cookery classes. For more information contact them on 02 6735 953 between 10am and 12pm, or write to

BRIDFAS (British Decorative and Fine Arts Society of Brussels)

Located at NATO Headquarters, it offers a range of facilities once membership to the centre has been obtained. There is an annual membership fee and charges for various facilities. There are a wide range of facilities available including a swimming pool, sports hall, squash courts, gym, tennis courts, football pitches. There is a bar, reasonably priced restaurant with a children’s play area near the restaurant They also run a child care facility during school holidays, they take children of working parents from 3-12 years of age during the school holidays for a reasonable price.
